As consumers, we are faced daily with choices about what to eat.
As a bodybuilder, we are bombarded with protein bars that
promise everything from tons of protein, low carbs, less fat,
and the cheapest bar on the market. But rarely do any of the
bars meet the most necessary requirement of them all. If the bar
doesn’t taste great, then I don’t want to eat it.

Regardless of how much protein might exist in a particular bar,
if Bar A has more but tastes worse then than Bar B, I’m still
more likely to choose Bar B. As a consumer of protein bars, I
don’t feel like forcing myself to eat something two or more
times a day just because it has the best whey-protein on the
market. And while some bars can claim to be great tasting, they
never do the definitive real taste test.

The real taste test is a bar that not only health conscious
adults will enjoy but one that you can give your child and it
won’t come home in his/her backpack. If your child (if you are
childless, get a bar and test it out on a niece/nephew) won’t
eat the bar, chances are there’s a reason for that. Because it
doesn’t taste good.

Over the last few years, low sugar, low carbs has become such a
big deal. So now we have some of the healthiest bars on the
market. But nobody wants (I didn’t say won’t) to eat them.
Because it’s like going to the dentist. Who wants to go? We go
because we know the consequences of not going are worse. But is
that really how you want to feel about something that you eat
two or more times a day?

How about eating a bar that tastes good, has enough of the good
stuff in it, and eating it two times a day is a treat? Okay, so
you might get more sugar. Again, you might get a few more carbs.
But statistics prove that you will be more likely to consume all
that good stuff more often if you like doing it. Most of us
don’t daily do something that we don’t like doing unless there
is a compelling reason to do so. The lure of money comes to mind
when I think of work.

Choose a bar that has enough protein in it and enough carbs. And
sugar isn’t all that bad. When you workout, your body needs
instant fuel. Sugar is a better source of immediate fuel then
protein. Having some sugar before your intense bodybuilding
workout is not a bad thing. Forget all the science of the bar.
Taste is most often overlooked in choosing a good protein bar.
Give the bar to your child and see if they eat it. If they do,
chances are, you will too.

cost-effective and *enjoyable* nutritional plan.

– Quality Carbohydrate Sources that will get your muscles dense

Rice, pasta and baked potatoes are excellent sources of energy
that effectively “breed” muscles with pure, crystal-clear energy.

Read/White meat, tuna, fillet and egg whites will provide your
system with the daily protein quantity to maintain a constant
anabolic phase and induce muscle-growth.

Consume 4-6 small meals per day for optimal “thermogenic” and
muscle-building procedure.

Add to your plan fruits and vegetables to cover-up your daily
vitamin needs.

{ If you need a great resource for vitamins, check Purity’s
renowned health store, at:

http://www.weighttrainingcenter.com/cgi-bin/bam.cgi?goto=purity }

Drink ample mineral water (~a gallon/day) to induce your system
to “dump” hazardous toxical substances, while keeping your
muscles flexible and “pumped-up”.

Your latest meal should be consumed at least 2 hours before
sleep, and no later than 21:30 PM.

Your pre-workout snack could be fruits puffed with honey and 200
ML of orange juice (30′ prior).

A bottle of cool, mineral water while exercising is just what
the doctor ordered.

Keep up with this basic plan and along with a highly-intensive

Women bodybuilding for beginners.

With the current craze of the Atkins diet women are finding
success fitting into clothes that they couldn’t fit into for a
while. Without a doubt the Atkins diet works. Unfortunately the
diet doesn’t help muscle tone or the cardiovascular system. Now
with the fat that was covering the underlying muscle melted
off,. you would like to see these muscles toned up. Why not try
bodybuilding? You probably have some questions why you should
start bodybuilding. I listed below some of the questions I have
been asked over the years. Hopefully this will answer your
queries.

Question 1 If I start bodybuilding will I develop huge muscles
and have to quit my job as a dental hygienist? I’m not looking
forward to becoming a longshoreman and working on the docks and
changing my name to Butch.

No. A woman does not have the testosterone levels as a man to
build huge muscles. The bodybuilding training will only tone
muscles and add shape.

Question 2 Will I have to 2nd mortgage the house so I can buy
supplements to support my bodybuilding endeavors?

No. Just follow a natural well-balanced eating plan.

Question 3 Can I build a larger chest with bodybuilding?

No. But you can tone the underlying muscles of your chest which
will help enhance your appearance.

Question 4 Do I have to join a gym?

No. You can workout at home buying some dumbbells and simple
equipment. But it is helpful to train at a bodybuilding gym. It
is great to be in an atmosphere where everybody else there is
working towards the same goals as you.

Question 5 Do I have to commit a lot time to bodybuilding?

No. 3 times a week 1-hour sessions are all you really need to
keep toned.

Question 6 Do I have to yell really loud when lifting weights or
grunt like the guys at the gym or expel deadly gases while
working out?

No. Please no. I was parking my truck in the parking lot of the
gym I own in Northern Wisconsin and I heard a guy yelling from
inside the gym. I thought he was hurt from the ear-splitting
roar. After getting inside I found him finishing a set of wrist
curls. I hope this will answer your questions if you are
interested in starting bodybuilding. It is a great individual
sport. And you can choose the level you want to be at. From a
recreational bodybuilder to a highly competitive bodybuilder
that competes at shows. Hopefully this article will be a start
of a series of women bodybuilding for beginners. Please join the
newsletter on the www.nature-boy-bodybuilding.com site to keep
informed of new articles in the future. If you have any
questions about bodybuilding please don’t hesitate to e-mail me
with your doctor before starting a bodybuilding program.

I’m always amazed at how many people seem to know the answer to
this question yet in practice they fail. Everybody I’ve talked
to seems to know that 8-12 glasses of water a day is the
recommended standard. But if I ask them how many glasses of
water have you consumed today? The answer is usually none. Or
the other standard answer at a corporate environment “does
coffee count?”

While 8-12 glasses of water is great for the average sedentary
person, many of us are fitness conscious or on the pursuit of
some type of bodybuilding physique. With that in mind, I think
the new standard for us should be 1-2 gallons of water a day.

As a bodybuilder, you are putting much more nutrients, food,
supplements, and other stuff into your body. What your body does
not use, it must rid itself of by any means necessary. Usually
it does this via water. So drinking plenty of water becomes a
necessity. Increasing protein puts a strain on your body and
drinking lots of water can keep things “moving.” Creatine
monohydrate supplementation requires a lot of water. Creatine is
all about cell volumization. Making sure your cells are
completely hydrated helps with the volumization process. NO2, a
hemodilator, requires water. Many other supplements require
water as a transport and a flushing method.

The side effects of drinking too little water are an excess
buildup of certain chemicals. Creatine can leave behind some
buildup that overtime, becomes a bit hard to pass. Putting such
a strain on the body is also self-defeating. But don’t get me
wrong, it’s not just about Creatine and NO2. It’s about making
sure you are hydrated.

Being properly hydrated has it’s benefits other then just the
flushing methods and cell volumization discussed above. Your
state of alertness is affected by your hydration levels.
Performance in the gym by a hydrated body is enhanced. Your body
is roughly 70% water. It makes sense to hydrate it. Drinking
water is not just for hot days. It’s for intense workouts in the
gym. In fact, being hydrated has that perpetual pump that is so
sought after.

There can be too much of a good thing. Drinking water to excess
leads to water intoxication, referred to as hyponatremia. As you
consume water, blood plasma increases and dilutes the salt
content of the blood. While this is happening, you lose more
salt by sweating. Consequently the amount of salt available to
the body tissues decreases and over time, the loss interferes
with brain, heart and muscle functions. Water intoxication is
more commonly found in endurance athletes.

Drink plenty of water per day, but just keep in mind, there can
be too much of a good thing. Being properly hydrated is
necessary for optimum performance in the gym and for keeping
your body performing well.

Deadlifts are a very potential muscle-building exercise, that
will rejuvenate your entire physical condition, to a whole new
level — if executed astutely.

Here are some facts, on how Deadlifts can dramatically improve
your physical power, to singularly maximized levels:

* Deadlifts Will Quadruple your Natural Testosterone & Growth
Hormone Levels each time your subject yourself into this
exercise (performed once / or twice a month.)

* Deadlifts Will Increase your Metabolism at Incredibly Fast
Rates and Transform Fat into Pure Energy.

* Deadlifts Will help your urination, detoxification, and
“gas-liberation” (don’t Cackle – it’s a fact)…

* Deadlifts Will Enhance your Sexual Performance & Desire, if
performed Methodically.

* Deadlifts Can Improve your Lung’s Functionality and Heart’s
Efficiency, Dramatically.

* Deadlifts Will Boost your Immune System to recovering fast
from various Illnesses.

* Deadlifts Will make you speedy, powerful, leaner, reactive,
energetic…

I lust the feeling of small in duration, highly intensive
Deadlifts which successfully force my body, to excrete a
constant flow of estosterone, that awakens a voracious beast
inside me…

After a ‘Deadlift Workout’ I can feel my sexuality rise so
sky-high… my muscles so engorged, that my poise is
automatically triggered and empowered to the absolute maximum.

Most people admire and respect strong individuals who have won
great success by manifesting will power and self discipline.
People in all walks of life, who with sheer will power, self
discipline and ambition have improved their life, learned new
skills, overcame difficulties and hardships, reduced their
weight, rose high in their chosen field or advanced on the
spiritual path.

The truth is that everyone can reach high levels of will power
and self-discipline through a practical method of training.
These inner power are not reserved for a few special people.

Will power and self discipline are two of the most important and
useful inner powers in everyone’s life, and have always been
considered as essential tools for success in all areas of life.
They can be learned and developed like any other skill, yet, in
spite of this, only few take any steps to develop and strengthen
them in a systematic way.

What is will power? It is the inner strength to make a decision,
take action, and handle and execute any aim or task until it is
accomplished, regardless of inner and outer resistance,
discomfort or difficulties.

It bestows the ability to overcomes laziness, temptations and
negative habits, and to carry out actions, even if they require
effort, are unpleasant and tedious or are contrary to one’s
habits.

What is self discipline? It is the rejection of instant
gratification in favor of something better. It is the giving up
of instant pleasure and satisfaction for a higher and better
goal.

It manifests as the ability to stick to actions, thoughts and
behavior, which lead to improvement and success. Self-discipline
is self-control, and it manifests in spiritual, mental,
emotional and physical discipline.

The purpose of self-discipline is not living a limiting or a
restrictive lifestyle. It does not mean being narrow minded or
living like a fakir. It is one of the pillars of success and
power. It endows the inner strength to focus all the energy on a
goal and persevere until it is accomplished.

Both of these abilities are required for daily actions and
decisions, and also for making major decisions and attaining
major success. They are needed to start and continue studying,
building a business, losing weight, bodybuilding and physical
exercises, maintaining good relationships, changing habits, self
improvement, meditation, spiritual growth, keeping and carrying
out promises and for almost everything else.

One of the most simple and effective methods to develop will
power and self-discipline is by refusing to satisfy unimportant
and unnecessary desires. Everyone is constantly confronted and
tempted by an endless stream of desires and temptations, many of
which are not really important or desirable. By learning to
refuse to satisfy every one of them, you get stronger.

Refusing and rejecting useless, harmful or unnecessary desires
and actions, and behaving contrary to your habits, sharpen and
strengthen your inner strength. By constant practice your inner
power grows, just like exercising your muscles at a gym
increases your physical strength. In both cases, when you need
inner power or physical strength, they are available at your
disposal.

Here are a few examples: – Don’t read the newspaper for a day or
two. – Drink water when thirsty, in spite of your desire to have
a soft drink. – Walk up and down the stairs instead of taking
the lift. – Get down from the bus one station before or after
your destination, and walk the rest of the way. – For a week go
to sleep one hour earlier than usual. – Sometimes resist the
desire to eat ice cream.

These are only a few examples of the many exercises that can be
conducted in order to develop will power and self-discipline.
Exercises like these add to the storehouse of your inner
strength. By following a systematic method of training you can
reach far, have more control over yourself and your life, attain
your goals, improve your life, and gain satisfaction and peace
of mind.

An article describing how to determine your body type. Female
bodybuilding.

Women bodybuilding, determining your body type.

One time, a successful bodybuilder once told me that
bodybuilding is 80% knowledgeable training and 80% nutrition. It
is quite obvious this strong-armed man did not have strength in
math, but never the less he was successful in pursuing a
bodybuilding lifestyle. Wait a minute that was me who said that.
Oh boy.

To determine what kind of nutrition and training you should
follow, you must first determine what type of body style you
have. It is not imperative to do this but it does help you
achieve your desired effect. The three types of body styles are
Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorph.

Ectomorph: This type of person has a hard time putting on
weight. That includes fat or muscle. Typically a thin, wiry type
of build. In the bodybuilding circle this is a hardgainer. This
person can eat anything all the time and will not gain an ounce.
Usually a tad bit high strung. Just like someone hooked them up
intravenously with double strength espresso. At the office, they
can eat a bag of chips and wash it down with a soda and then go
to break eating even more. For a bodybuilding diet this person
can eat all the bread, rice and potatoes they want. Ectomorph
must do enough cardio work to keep the heart healthy.

Mesomorph: This type of person can generally put on muscle very
easily. They have more of an athletic build. Broad shoulders,
wide back and thick thigh muscles are some of the
characteristics of this type. This person does have to watch
what they eat or they will be adding fat on their body. This
person might have an aggressive type of behavior. Do first, ask
later mentality. For the bodybuilding diet, eat enough calories
to maintain and build muscle, but keep it a very clean and
healthy diet or you will put on the fat. Do enough cardio work
to keep the fat off. But don’t overdo it or you will waste away
your hard-earned muscle.

Endomorph: The only thing this type of person has to do is look
at food and they gain weight. And not the right kind of weight.
Some possible characteristics are narrow shoulders or a pear
shaped body. Watching their diet is a big problem for this
person. This person might have to monitor their health more
closely for heart disease later in life. This person must strive
to keep an active lifestyle to burn the calories. The
bodybuilding diet, eat low calorie foods such as vegetables and
fruits. Preferably in whole and natural form. Protein should
come from very lean sources.

You can be a combination of two or even all three-body types.
You can be a bodybuilder no matter what type of body you have.
Its just that some will have an easier time than others will.
After deciding on the type of body you have you can adjust your
workout accordingly.

Hi, I’m your waitress, Flo. How are you two doing tonight? Just
come from the gym? Whew, one of you needs a shower. Here’s our
menu. Our specials include a 3lb cheeseburger with mega fries, a
foot long chili dog that is deep-fried and covered with cheese.
Or we have a this new health drink called Chocolate Splendor.
What? How in the h#%l did that get in there?

An after workout drink that provides bodybuilding nutrition for

After putting your body through a grueling workout it demands
bodybuilding nutrition. No this is not an advertisement. We
found an easy, quick and reasonably priced way of fulfilling
this need. We take a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast and
mix it with whey protein. The whey protein that we use is
Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Powder. It mixes easily and
tastes good. 20 grams of sugar carbohydrates from the instant
breakfast help your blood glucose return back too normal after
the depletion from the workout. You can mix the two powders
together in a shaker cup and add water at the gym when you are
ready to drink it. Chocolate Splendor breakdown: 
Protein 28 grams  Carbohydrates 30 grams 20 grams sugar
 Fat 2.5 grams

Start of article.

Walking for fitness, A Beginning Program

Warm temperatures, sunshine, summery breezes just incite you to
start something active outside. Maybe that walking program you
were thinking about all winter. Well here is a beginning-walking
program you can follow to help you along. First we will start
with some pointers.

Don’t use a 6-lane highway as you’re walking path. Try to find a
safe area to walk if you can.

Use a pair of comfortable shoes preferably with a cushioned
sole. Better yet, if you are serious about walking, buy yourself
a topnotch pair of walking shoes.

Wear clothing you feel comfortable walking in. Preferably bright
upper body clothing if you walk along more heavily traveled
roads.

Start gradually with your walking to avoid getting super stiff
and sore. Give your muscles a change to get use to it.

Use some light stretching after you are done walking to help
bring back some elasticity back into your muscles.

If it is hot outside make sure to drink enough water to keep
hydrated.

Walk with good posture by keeping your head up and shoulders
back and not slouched ahead.

To reduce getting hit by a car try not wearing headphones.

A Beginning Schedule: This is an 8-week beginner’s schedule. By
the 8th week your total time will be 30 minutes. When you get
done with each week you can progress to the next level. Each
walking session starts with a 5-minute warm-up. The aerobic
stage starts by increasing the walking speed. A rule of thumb to
judge if you are going fast enough is you find yourself swinging
your arms with each stride. Next slow down to relax your body
and cool off for 5 minutes. If you think you are not ready to
progress to the next week, stay at the same level until you feel
you are ready.

Week One: Warm up 5 minutes, aerobic stage 5 minutes, Cool down
5 minutes Week Two: Warm up 5 minutes, aerobic stage 7 minutes,
Cool down 5 minutes Week Three: Warm up 5 minutes, aerobic stage
9 minutes, Cool down 5 minutes Week Four: Warm up 5 minutes,
aerobic stage 11 minutes, Cool down 5 minutes Week Five: Warm up
5 minutes, aerobic stage 13 minutes, Cool down 5 minutes Week
Six: Warm up 5 minutes, aerobic stage 15 minutes, Cool down 5
minutes Week Seven: Warm up 5 minutes, aerobic stage 18 minutes,
Cool down 5 minutes Week Eight: Warm up 5 minutes, aerobic stage
20 minutes, Cool down 5 minutes

After week eight; Congratulations. You are ready to move up to
the advanced level. Your next goal is eventually 30 minutes at
aerobic stage.

Jeopardizing your health is the last thing Nature Boy wants.
Please check with your doctor before starting a walking program.
We want to make this a healthy start to a better lifestyle.

Start of article.

Fitness Woman. Do you need a reason to get fit?

Oh what a shift! Death and disease from tobacco is being
replaced with obesity related diseases. This according to recent
study of trends. Heart disease has become the number one killer
of women. Obesity from inactivity and very poor eating habits
are killing not only women but men also. More children and
teenagers are becoming overweight and diabetic. In this article
we will concentrate on women and obesity.

First, lets look at the nutrition part of the growing dilemma.
Fat from deep fried foods, bad cuts of meat and fats added in
cooking compounded with sugar laded foods are the biggest
culprit of the expanding waist. Start replacing that donut with
an orange or apple. Eat chicken breast meat instead that fat
laden bratwurst. Replace the potato chips with lite popcorn for
a salty snack. There are web sites that you can check out that
will help you in this area. Don’t be taken in by some magic pill
or potion to help you lose the fat. Cleaning up your eating
habits is the best way. Generally the less processing the food
went through the better it is for you. Example would be, an
apple alone is better for you than apiece of apple pie.

Let’s get active! Now let us touch on the lack of exercise and
obesity. Do you have to train for a triathlon to get into shape?
No. But you do have to increase your activity part of your
lifestyle. Simple steps like getting off the couch while
watching TV and taking a walk. Parking in the back part of the
parking lot at work to increase walking distance. You don’t
really need fancy equipment just to lose a few pounds. Just
determination. Or maybe you would like to start Fitness Walking.
An excellent low cost workout. You are saying to yourself “what
is the difference between walking and Fitness Walking?” With
Fitness Walking you pace yourself fast enough to elevate your
heart rate. When you reach your targeted heart rate, you are at
optimum fat burning. Basically you need a higher quality walking
shoe and a program to follow. Or maybe join a yoga or Pilates
class. What ever you think you would like to do and stay at it.

The fact of the matter! Women may reduce breast cancer 25% to
35% with reasonable exercise. Again you don’t have to train for
a triathlon to receive the benefits. Drop the extra weight by
watching your diet and becoming more active in your lifestyle.

Jeopardizing your health is the last thing Nature Boy wants.
Please check with your doctor before starting a fitness program.
We want to make this a healthy start to a better lifestyle.
