Pull-Up Bars

If you watch someone doing pull ups, you might think that it is an easy exercise. Unless the individual has been practicing for a long time, if you look more closely at the individual you are likely to see at least some sign of strain on their face. Pull ups require you to lift your entire body weight and for most people it is one of the toughest exercises you can perform to strengthen your arm and chest muscles. While you can perform pull ups using a closet bar, you should invest a couple of hundred dollars to buy a piece of equipment that is going to provide you a safer workout.

Pull-up bars are probably one of the easiest of body building equipment to assemble. The Balazs Non-Adjustable 48-inch Wide Wall-Mounted Pull Up Bar, for example, simply fits between two spaces such as a doorframe and is mounted using the hardware included with the equipment. Pull-ups can be tough on the hands. The Balazs is made of a soft foam-like material that cushions and protects your hands during the workout. While you cannot adjust the Balazs pull-up bar, you can perform a variety of pull-up exercises with the equipment. For example, you can move your hands in different widths across the bar to work various muscles in your back.

You should use caution when you perform pull-up exercises. You perform the exercise by basically standing under the pull-up bar and raising yourself up. Many people are tempted to swing or rock their bodies to use the momentum to pull them up. You don't want to do this because you can injure your back and doing so can prevent you from performing any type of exercise. When you lift yourself up you want to try and keep your body as vertical as possible. Although most pull-up bars, including the Balazs, are designed to make your lifts easier, some people use exercise gloves when performing pull-up exercises.
